Physical therapy and rehabilitation is a treatment method that treats functional disorders or losses caused by accidents, trauma, congenital disorders or other reasons with various methods and enables the patient to move comfortably in daily life. This method, which can be used in the treatment of many bone and muscle-related diseases, is a type of treatment that can be applied individually.
Physical therapy can be used in combination with other treatment methods or can be effective alone. This treatment can be performed using radiation, heat, exercise, electrical currents, hot-cold applications and physical agents. The word rehabilitation includes meanings such as repair, restoration, improvement. The aim of rehabilitation studies carried out with physical therapy is to ensure that the patient lives a physiologically, socially, spiritually and professionally independent life. Rehabilitation can often take longer than physical therapy.
There are various methods used in the application areas of physical therapy and rehabilitation. Thermotherapy includes hot applications such as ultrasound, short and microwaves, laser, hot packs, heliotherapy, while cryotherapy includes cold applications with cold packs, compresses, cooling sprays, ice massage and bags.
Hydrotherapy includes methods such as hot tubs, spas, and whirlpool baths, while electrotherapy treats using direct and alternating currents. Medication, treatment with mechanical methods (massage, manual therapy, traction, etc.) and exercise applications are among the other methods used in physical therapy and rehabilitation.
